INSURANCE MANAGEMENT

The District shall maintain a comprehensive insurance program for loss or damage of school buildings and/or equipment. The District also maintains required insurance coverage for its fleet of school buses.  The coverage provided shall at least be equal to the general requirements set forth by the insurance specifications.

The District shall maintain a legal liability insurance policy on the District, the Board, and all employees of the District.  (This includes “errors-and-omissions” insurance.)  Coverage provides reimbursement of legal fees and such losses as the insured persons may become legally obligated to pay, with a sum deductible as specified in the policy.

The Board may also authorize and participate in insurance programs for employees and students.

Insurance specifications are written at least every three years, and audited and updated continuously in the interim.

Bids and quotations shall be sought from reputable companies or firms to ensure that the

District obtains optimum coverage and service for the best available rates.

The insurance program shall be administered by the business manager under the general supervision of the superintendent.
