A fire drill shall be held in each school building in the District at least twice each semester. An extra drill in September is recommended to ensure that all school personnel and students are aware of the proper procedures. After October 1, fire drills shall be held without warning.
Order rather than speed shall be stressed in fire drills. The Superintendent or designee shall assist building principals in setting and enforcing proper fire prevention and fire drill procedures in their schools.
Appropriate instruction shall be given to teachers and students as to routes and manner of exit during fire drills. All school personnel shall be familiar with the location of fire extinguishers in their buildings, and with the location and operation of fire alarm systems.
