Budget Reduction Input
We want to thank everyone for your support and hard work in promoting 3A & 3B. I know many of you have questions about the future of Douglas County School District and Timber Trail due to the defeat of the bond and budget issues.
District and building leadership are working fervently to design a process that ensures all DCSD stakeholders (staff, parents, students, etc.) have input into the budget reduction. A key understanding is that in the near future there will be clear communication regarding how all stakeholders will be involved. Stakeholder input will be utilized as we develop our best budget reduction plan that serves our children and honors our employees.
Despite the election results, we will continue to provide an excellent education and positive environment for our Timber Trail students. We view this setback as an opportunity to show that we can maintain our excellence through tough times. As a staff and community, we will focus on our strengths, utilize all of our resources, strive to work smarter and rely on one another for support as we deal with our future as educators at Timber Trail Elementary.
In times like these, we are reminded of why we do what we do. Our duty is to educate children and together, with your support and understanding, we will continue to maintain our dedication and excellence at Timber Trail.
We hope to have more detailed information to share with you next week.
Thank You,
Michele Radke

Thank You To Our Scouts!!!! Wonderful Donations!!!!
Girl Scout Troop 571
On Saturday, September 27th, Girl Scout Troop 571 and their leaders, Erin Novotny and Debbie Haynie, planted a maple tree and dozens of tulip bulbs in front of Timber Trail Elementary. The tree-planting project was a partial requirement of the Eco Action merit badge. The tree was purchased with meeting dues collected from the girls from January - June 2008 and Castle Rock Gift and Garden graciously donated compost for the tree as well as over 60 yellow, orange and pink tulip bulbs.
This great group of 5th grade girls is continually involved in community service projects. As members of the first class at Timber Trail to attend Kindergarten through 5th grade graduation, the troop wanted to give something back to their school. The tree will serve as a lasting reminder of their time at Timber Trail.
Boy Scout Den 11
Boy Scout Den 11 and their leader, Mark Grafitti, recently donated a variety of playground balls to Timber Trail. We are so grateful for their act of kindness and want to recognize their donation. Many of our playground balls used for recesses seemed to be in rough shape so the students really appreciate Den 11 and their contribution. Thank you boys! |
