Welcome to 7C/8A Language Arts. This course is designed to help students improve their speaking, writing and reading skills. In addition, I hope to give students a genuine appreciation of literature.

8th- This year is important because students will be given the opportunity to learn and master all concepts before entering high school. This might be consider a preparatory year. Our units will cover several units which cover district standards.


7th- This year will be an important year for your student not only academically but also socially. This transitional year will be an opportunity to discover their potential and foster individual growth. We will cover several units which cover the district standards.


All classes have started the short story unit. 

8th: Students have been engaged in the reading of the play, The Diary of Anne Frank.  By volunteering for individual parts, students have witnessed each character come to life. We will follow this play with non-fiction readings that cement the theme of prejudice.

7th: We are reading Define Normal. Students are involved and engaged. Excellent discussion revolves around the plot.

All classes are starting a brainstorm and outline for the Holiday Essay. We are working on this in class at present.

 


Homework: 

All students have selected a novel from the library. This quarter our book report will be biography. Some time will be provided in class.Due Date: November 16, and 17.

Holiday Composition will be due: Nov.23/24. Requirements: Brainstorm, Outline, Rough Draft and Final.
