![]() About the Instructor
Gary Cordray has been teaching high school English in Colorado for 19 years. He began his career in 1988 at Grand Junction High School where he taught for five years before leaving the teaching profession to be a publishing representative for Jostens, Inc. After returning to teaching in 1996, Gary taught at Dakota Ridge High School for seven years before taking his current position at Ponderosa in 2003 as an Advanced Placement English Language and Composition, Creative Writing, and Public Speaking teacher. Recently he was appointed a position as an off campus instructor for the University of Colorado at Denver, teaching Core Composition I and II for this academic school year. |
![]() Mr. Cordray has lived in Parker since 1993 with his wife, Christia. His daughter Katie graduated from Chaparral High School in 2009 and currently attends the University of Colorado in Boulder. Mr. Cordray was born in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1965, and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1983. He attended Simpson College, a private school in Iowa, on a basketball scholarship, but after a short time there, transfered to the University of Northern Colorado where he studied English and journalism. He earned his Masters degree in edcation from Lesley University in 2000. |
![]() In addition to being a teacher, Mr. Cordray is an avid fly fisherman, backpacker, and all around outdoor enthusiast. He loves to read modern novels as well as the classics, and write essays, short narratives, and fiction revolving around themes he finds in the tranquility of nature and the complexity of the modern human experience. He has written one novel, "Running Down Karma," which was a bestseller in his family where nearly every member bought a copy and four of them actually read most of it. |
