Welcome to Sixth Grade letter

Welcome to 6th Grade!  I am excited to be working in sixth grade with your child and am thrilled to have your child in my class. I am truly looking forward to a dynamic sixth grade year. I previously taught sixth grade for many years and am looking forward to being back in sixth grade especially with students I already know. I will be teaching science and language/spelling. Science was my focus in college and my passion in all my years of teaching. I was actively involved at the district level for many years to make sure that science was taught in all elementary schools.

I just want to say for now that I believe strongly in the concept that we are all working together in educating your child and my goal is to bring out the best in him or her.  Sixth grade is an important year as it is the beginning of the middle school years and your child is becoming more independent and taking their learning into their own hands with guidance from teacher and parents.  If I can ever help, clarify, validate or explain, please do not hesitate to call or email me.  That is part of my job and I want you to know I am available to you.  The best way to reach me is to email me at  or call me at 303-387-5825.

I want all of us to work closely and we can do so if we communicate closely as well.  I believe that when children are involved in their education, that they not only take ownership of their education, but they also become more motivated to accomplish the goals that they have had a part in setting.

I am looking forward to seeing you.
