*** All missing assignments must be turned in, they will be marked as an"M" until the work is turned in. Important Dates: 11/23 - Disease Pamphlet Due 11/25 - Thanksgiving Holiday Week of 11/16 - 11/20 Students will study the difference between infectious and noninfectious disease. Each student will study and create an information pamphlet on a disease of their choosing. Week of 11/9 - 11/13 We will begin our unit on Growth and Development. Students will cover how their bodies change during adolescence, physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. Week of 11/2 - 11/6 Due to the snow days, we will finish our nutrition unit with eating disorders and fad diets. Week of 10/26 - 10/30 Students will be finishing our look at Nutrition by examining our own diets and looking at eating disorders and fad diets. Week of 10/12 - 10/16 Students will begin to work on Nutrition. We will look at essential vocab, food labels, fast food, fad diets, eating disorders and the food that they consume. Week of 10/5 - 10/9 Students are working on study guides and their Fitness projects all week. Week of 9/28 - 10/2 Students are continuing to explore the 5 areas and will be trying to get into the target heart rate zone with outside activity if the weather permits. They will also try anaerobic vs aerobic activity as well as muscular strength vs endurance exercise. Study guide are being created in class 9/30, 10/1. (All activity is low impact and optional, based on students comfort levels.) Week of 9/21-9/25 Students are working on the 5 Areas of Health related fitness. They are working in class on the specific areas focusing on Vocabulary. Week of 9/14 - 9/18 Sorry for the late update, my site was removed, but I am back. Students did a great job on the first unit and we will continue to add to stress and self esteem strategies as we move through the curriculum. Our next unit will be focusing on Fitness and Nutrition. Week of 9/07 - 9/11 Students are creating informative posters on specific topics related to Stress management, Self Esteem and Emotions. Posters will be presented. Week of 8/31 - 9/04 Students will be working on the concepts of stress, time management and making decisions. Week of 8/24 - 8/28 Students will apply the essential vocabulary of the 3 components of Health. To show their knowledge they will create a collage to show their understanding. Week of Aug 17 - Aug 21 Students are working on Standard 1 discussing Physical, Mental and Social Health. We are working on self esteem, completing our Front Page and Surviving Middle School Magazine Review. |
