October 8, 2009

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support of items and time donated to the classroom.  You are all wonderful!

Fall Break starts  October, 12.  Classes resume on Monday, October 26th.  Our team hopes that you enjoy the time with your child and we look forward to seeing you when we return to class.

In keeping with the policies of the Northridge Elementary school we will not be wearing Halloween costumes to class.  There is a Fall Festival at the elementary sponsored by PIE that we encourage you to attend. You may click on the link to the left for more information.

On Wednesday and Thursday, October 29th and 29th we will have a special craft and treat in class to celebrate fall.

Guidelines regarding illness are changing on a weekly basis.  I will keep you informed via this website.  You may also check the preschool handbook on the district website.  Updates and changes will be highlighted in red.  These are the new recommendations:

  • If your child has had a fever it must be normal for 24 hours without taking any fever reducing medication. This includes Tylenol and Ibuprofen products.
  • If your child has had diarrhea they are not able to return to school until he/she is symptom free for 48 hours. (This used to be 24)

As things change I will post the updates at the sign in table in addition to this page.

Remember to call the classroom when your child is ill.  303-387-6578

It  continues to be extremely important that you are here on time for the start of class. The first part of our day is structured teaching time.  All staff members are needed to make the most of this instructional time. When I, (or any staff member), am at the door for longer than 5 minutes it takes away from the children who arrive on time.  When you are late, your child misses out on very important activities. I will be closing the door after 5 minutes even if I see you parking or coming up the walk. You will need to enter through the front of the school once the door is closed.  We want your child to enjoy the full experience of the learning activities we have planned and prepared for them.  Your help in this matter is appreciated.

I want to thank all of you who have arrived on time for class.  We have been able to start our table learning time without interruptions and spend the time needed with the children.

Happy Fall!

DeAnna
