Lightning Dismissal
The Yellow Flag means a lightning dismissal. You must sign your child out at their classroom.
Yellow flags will be posted on the southern-most mobile, and on the main flag pole in front of the school.
Dear Parents,
It is necessary for parents to notify the school of changes in phone numbers or emergency dismissal procedures.
Review your emergency information with your child this week--it has been very difficult to maintain correct emergency numbers in the office.
PLEASE MAKE AN EXTRA EFFORT TO ENSURE YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY.
Our most significant difference will be that all students MUST remain with their classroom teacher until individual dismissal procedures are confirmed AND RECORDED with each teacher. Students will NOT be dismissed through the office-- only through the classroom (lightning and early dismissals are affected in this policy).
Mr. Morgan's & Mrs. Applegate's students will move to the library
for parent signout in a lightning dismissal.
Mrs. Severson's & Mrs. Polzin's students will move to the gym
for parent signout in a lightning dismissal.
South/Parking Lot Mobile students will stay in their mobiles for parent signout in a lightning dismissal. (Exception: Mrs. Griffith's classroom will go to the gym.)
On days when lightning is dangerous, parents must park their cars and come into their child's classroom to get their children. We will not dismiss any students to leave the building outside of this procedure until the lightning is no longer threatening. I realize this can be difficult especially if you have other children in the car. I recommend that you make prior car pool arrangements with friend or a neighbor to help in this situation.
Bus students will not load the busses until lightning is no longer a threat, or until we feel like we can load our students safely. Therefore, it is possible that students will be arriving a little late.
NO STUDENT is dismissed prior to confirmation of parent expectations to the classroom teacher.
CORRECT SIGN OUT PROCEDURE IS ESSENTIAL
Bus procedures will not change.

Severe Weather Policy
Dear Parents,
In cases of severe weather, whether it be snowing and cold in the morning, or dropping temperatures throughout the day, common sense will be used on the appropriate action. The main office has views of the parking lot as well as the playground. We have a "mini-weather station" on top of the building that gives wind speed, temptress, and wind chill information. In cases of severe cold weather in the morning, children will be brought into the gym. Cold weather during the day calls for indoor recess. Any time any lightning is seen outside, children are immediately sent inside by the adult on-site at that time.
