Parent Teacher Organization

A PTO is a Parent Teacher Organization dedicated to supporting the educational experience of its students. The mission of Acres Green PTO, a Chapter of the DCEF, is to support, promote, provide, and enhance the educational experience of the students of Acres Green. Our PTO provides support for special events and curriculum programs that are unable to be funded by other means. Our PTO also gives parents, staff, and the entire community the opportunity to work together to make Acres Green an exceptional school for our students.

How do I become a member of the PTO? Congratulations! You became a member of the PTO just by enrolling your child as a student here at Acres Green. Your membership is free but your support is very valuable. As a member of the PTO, you have a stake in the future of this organization and its impact on the school. Volunteers are needed to make our PTO successful.  It takes everyone doing a little so that together we can do a lot for our children. Please consider volunteering your time and talent to help us better support our school.

How do I volunteer?  Volunteers are the backbone of our PTO and fresh ideas and new faces are always appreciated. Volunteers are always needed and appreciated for our PTO events. In fact, the more, the merrier! It's a great way to get to know your school, the staff, and the students. To us, there are no "outsiders". We are people who have come together to work toward common goals. We couldn't be happier to have you join us in working toward those goals. Your support will go a long, long way in making our school the best for our children. If you can spend some time with us, simply contact the chairperson for the committee(s) you are interested in, come to a PTO meeting or contact one of the PTO officers. We also invite you to consider serving as an officer or committee chairperson!

We all have busy lives and sometimes no matter how much you'd love to volunteer, you simply can't work it into your schedule.  That's O.K.! Here are some of the other ways you can support Acres Green through the PTO:

  • Provide financial support : The PTO funds many critical programs for Acres Green. Funds for these programs are always tight and direct financial contributions are always appreciated.
  • Attend special events and fundraisers: One of the best ways you can support your child's educational experience is to simply be there for it.  Studies show children whose parents are involved get better grades, do better on tests, and have fewer discipline problems at school.
  • Check out our Every Day Fundraising: This is stuff you are already doing in your everyday life and by just adding a few extra steps, you can help Acres Green!
  • Attend PTO meetings: This is the best way to know what's going on.  You can hear the details about upcoming events and also learn more about some of our school programs.
  • Support your child's participation in PTO events: The PTO sponsors many in-school events. Be sure to encourage and support your child's participation in these special programs.
