7/11/11 > NEW - Parent Handbook is now available

The Parent Handbook is now available on the Parent Information page. While most policies and procedures are the same as the 2010-11 school year, a few have been improved and updated. This week we are featuring information on the Standardized Dress Guidelines - Check out this information below.

An attractive school wardrobe promotes school spirit, improved self-image, and school unity. Students who at first may be reluctant to adopt a uniform wardrobe soon become its biggest proponent as they develop a healthy pride in their school and a sense of belonging. Just as athletic teams' uniforms promote unity and spirit, so does a school wardrobe. Great attention is given to who children are, instead of what they wear.

In response to the Spring 2011 parent survey and with input from the School Accountability Committee, we have renewed our commitment to standardized dress and will consistently adhere to our expectations for student dress.

Students attending Lone Tree Elementary must follow these guidelines for standardized dress:

Standard dress or spirit wear is expected every day, Monday through Friday.

Free Dress Days are scheduled monthly, instead of every Friday, and are communicated via the school website.

What is acceptable standard dress?

Lone Tree Elementary standardized dress consists of any pair of pants, shorts, or skirt in solid khaki, black or navy. Any t-shirt, button-up shirt, polo or turtleneck in solid black, white, pastel pink, or navy is acceptable. No embellishments, stripes, jewels, words or brand name insignia should be visible on standardized dress. Shoes must be suitable for daily wear and safety on the playground. Flip-flops are excluded from standard dress for safety reasons.

What is spirit wear?

Spirit wear is clothing bearing the Lone Tree Elementary name and/or logo and/or mascot. It may be worn any day of the week, or in combination with the uniform. Spiritwear includes polo shirts, T-shirts and hoodies. Only spirit wear bought and sold through LTE will be permitted. All students will need one LTE t-shirt for field trips. (See the website for ordering information.)

Dress of Choice

Dress of choice or free dress indicates that students may wear any clothing they prefer as long as it adheres to the Douglas County School District Dress Code. NO flip-flops for any reason!

1/17/11 > PTO Auction Information

"We will inspire students to reach beyond the limits of formal education in a way that encourages critical thinking and responsible citizenship." In order to accomplish this for our kids, we need to cover costs for our programs in spite of the County school budget cuts.
LTE has one annual fundraiser.  Many parents have expressed their gratitude for not having to sell wrapping paper, cookie dough and numerous of other items as other schools do to cover their costs.  In saying that, we are asking all parents to PLEASE join us on Thursday, 1/27/11 at 6:00 PM in the school cafeteria for an opportunity to learn how you can help and participate in the one and only fundraiser LTE has every year. The Mane Event school auction will be held on May 13, 2011, at the Inverness Hotel.

  • We will be giving away two complimentary individual tickets to the Mane Event to two lucky attendees!
  • Proceeds earned from The Mane Event supplements the Micro Society Contract, Technology upgrades, Micro Society Supplies and General School Supplies.

Additionally, for sponsorship information, please contact Jody Morgan at  simplytasty@comcast.net. We have sponsorship opportunities at every level.

We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday, January 27, 6:00 pm, in the school cafeteria!

Recesses will be shortened or canceled whenever the possibility of a lightning storm exists in the area. The playground personnel will determine when conditions are such that children need to leave the playground. The following guidelines will be used in determining if such conditions exist:

  • Rolling tumultuous clouds
  • Sudden darkening of the sky
  • Stillness
  • Lightning spotted and/or thunder heard in the surrounding area

Should a lightning storm occur during dismissal time, we will suspend dismissal procedures until deemed safe to resume. Look for a lightning delay sign at the front of the school,  on the marquee and red flags displayed outside.  If you are waiting outside to pick up your child, that is your signal to come into the building, go directly to the classroom, and sign out your child with the teacher.

6/17/10 > Digital Communication

Elementary Progress Reports (EPR's) are only accessible in a  parent portal, they cannot be seen through the student's portal account. Teacher's will no longer be printing off EPR's for your student. Over the past week we have set up portal accounts for many families.  Please check your email for instructions on how to access these recently established portal accounts. If you have not set up your own parent portal, you need to do this now.

You will need your own parent portal for our Classroom Connection Days.  All forms will be on a system called "Express Check In" (district wide).  What does this mean for you?  Look for instructions on "Express Check In" by June 30th.

Remember, all communication is through our LTE website.  Please make sure you are checking this site frequently.  The important links are "What's New 2010/2011" and "LTE Main Page Calendar".
