Important Progress Report Information from Karen Moore, Principal |
Dear Lone Tree Families,
In our continuing effort to be more "green", we will no longer be sending home printed copies of progress reports beginning with the first trimester of this year.
In order to view and/or print your child's report card from home, you will need to have a valid parent portal account.
-
If you already have an active parent portal account - GREAT - you have already done what is necessary to view your child's progress report and no additional action is required.
-
If you requested your activation code at an earlier date, but have not yet activated your account; you will need to find the email that was sent to you and follow the instructions outlined in that correspondence. With that email you would have received your GUID # (activation code.)
-
If you do not have a parent portal account you will need to complete the Portal Contract before we can give you your portal activation code. The Portal Contract can be found on the Lone Tree Website under Important Information, once you are there click on Parent Portal to download this form. You may drop off your completed portal contract to the main office, at that time we will provide you with your activation code and instructions for setting up this account.
If you are unsure about your account status, please contact our office staff and they would be happy to help sort this out for you.
Sincerely,
Karen Moore
Principal

DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SICK CHILD POLICY |
In order to keep our school healthy for all students and staff we will be strictly enforcing the following guidelines
-
Schools have been advised to send any student with a fever of 99.3 or higher home.
-
Students displaying symptoms of chills, a sore throat, upset stomach, cough, and runny nose will be sent home even if they do not have a fever.
-
ALL STUDENTS must remain out of school for a full 24 hours fever free WITHOUT MEDICATION. This appears to be a critical component to keeping other students and staff well.
-
Any student with vomiting and diarrhea prior to the start of the school day, must remain at home for the day.
-
All staff will encourage good hand washing during the school day.

Lightning Procedure |
Lightning Policy
Recesses will be shortened or canceled whenever the possibility of a lightning storm exists in the area. The playground personnel will determine when conditions are such that children need to leave the playground. The following guidelines will be used in determining if such conditions exist:
-
Rolling tumultuous clouds
-
Sudden darkening of the sky
-
Stillness
-
Lightning spotted and/or thunder heard in the surrounding area
Should a lightning storm occur during dismissal time, we will suspend dismissal procedures until deemed safe to resume. Look for a lightning delay sign at the front of the school, on the marquee and red flags displayed outside. If you are waiting outside to pick up your child, that is your signal to come into the building, go directly to the classroom, and sign out your child with the teacher. |

Important Information RE: Obama's Address to school children on 9/8/09 |
Recently, a communication from the US Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, went out to schools across the country announcing a Presidential address to students that will take place on September 8th at 10 am (Mountain Time). The invitation encouraged schools, teachers and students to watch the Presidential address through this live streaming event. The purpose of this address as outlined by Secretary Duncan is to challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. What sets this presidential speech apart from previous events is that the President is speaking directly to school-age students.
We will not be showing this at school, but assume that the content will be rich and in alignment with district/school goals. We, too, are working on teaching our students to have a rigorous work ethic, to take responsibility for their learning and their behavior, to set goals, and to reflect on the learning process. We did not want you to miss the opportunity to record and view with your children, if you would choose to do so.
