In Colorado, the weather can change so quickly and the three snow days last week are just
one example. We hope that your family was able to access the district's decision to close
schools through a variety of means: local television and radio stations, the district website
(www.dcsdk12.org), or the Douglas County Schools weather hotline (303-387-SNOW) for
the latest updates. These means of communication would also have information about a
delayed start; we will begin one hour late or 9:40 instead of 8:40.  Delayed start means that
all before school clubs would be canceled and that childcare would open one hour later.
Douglas County makes decisions based on feeder schools, so please look for the Thunder-
Ridge Feeder information.

Fatburger and Cold Stone Creamery

Saddle Ranch Elementary has partnered with our local Fatburger and Cold Stone
Creamery in the Town Center for a school fundraiser. Please bring your whole family on
Tuesday evening, November 10th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM to either or both businesses.  Din-
ner at Fatburger will be made and served by restaurant employees.  At Cold Stone you
may order the ultimate ice cream creation that will be put together by a Saddle Ranch staff
member.. Saddle Ranch will receive a percentage of the profits from both business from
the evening.

Parent Teacher Conferences

During the week of November 16th - 20th, we will be hosting parent teacher conferences. This is a fantastic opportunity for parents to come into the building and learn how your child is progressing in school.

Destination Book Fair

The book fair will be held during the week of parent teacher conferences. Please look for
the detailed information packet that explains the new aspects of the fair this year including
classroom contests and the donation program. The book fair will be open for families to
come and purchase some of the greatest books available.

Character Education
During the month of November, we are celebrating the character trait of gratitude. Stu-
dents will be encouraged to express thankfulness for all they have. We encourage families
to discuss this character trait at home and participate in our Adopt a Family program. Dur-
ing conferences, please look for displays around the building; our school will provide holi-
day gifts for four Douglas County families in need. We have partnered with the Douglas
County Sheriff department to take care of others in our community. Giving is a powerful ex-
pression of gratitude.

We are grateful for your family and our entire school community.
