Global Citizen Grant

Description/Purpose

Available to clubs, classes or schools with a desire to learn more about other languages and/or cultures and who have developed a project promoting cross-cultural education.  The goals of the grant include:

  • To enhance the curriculum
  • To encourage global online collaborative learning and cross cultural problem-solving
  • To promote the use of technology to communicate
  • To gain an appreciation for the richness and diversity of all human societies
  • To develop an appreciation for the benefits received through partnerships and networking

Communication and Collaboration: 
When projects are designed and technology is used appropriately and proficiently it will:

  • Help students develop appropriate skills for technology-based communication, including methods for engagement, feedback, and understanding while using email, Videoconferencing, telephone, and so on.
  • Help students interact, collaborate, and publish with peers.
  • Allow students to engage with learners of other cultures.

Application of Technology:
When projects are designed and technology is used appropriately and proficiently it will:

  • Provide students with an understanding and appreciation of how technology is used in different careers.
  • Give students a general awareness of technologies that are currently available, even if they are not used in their school or their home, such as handheld computers, global positioning devices, videoconferencing systems, etc.
  • Position students to learn and use new technologies as they become available.
