Community Vehicle Safety Fair for Teens

The Douglas County Educational Foundation, in cooperation with GO Business 2 Business Advantage, hosted the first ever GO Smart, GO Safe, GO Educate Automotive Event at Rock Canyon High School on Saturday, October 6th, 2007.

Teen drivers were able to obtain a better understanding of the numerous responsibilities that come with car ownership by visiting booths that provided very useful demonstrations, presentations and information, to teach students how to be more responsible drivers on the road.

Many local companies, departments and agencies spent countless hours volunteering their time and effort to offer much of the necessary knowledge and skills needed to help teens become better, smarter, safer and more accountable drivers & vehicle owners.

A few of the exhibitors included: The Alive at 25 Driving Simulator, Castle Rock Police Department's Drunk Driving Golf Cart Course and the Domino Effect Crashed Car Exhibit.  Also on hand were:  The Douglas County Sheriffs' Office, Parker Fire Safety Foundation, Hip Safety, Operation Lifesaver and Cruisers Teen Driving to name a few.  GO Business 2 Business Advantage also provided quality used cars, trucks, and SUV's for test driving and purchase that day.

These interactive demonstrations and presentations give real life and death scenarios for teen drivers.  Hopefully the impact of this educational event could help save the lives of high school students.  For that reason the DCEF looks forward to making this an annual event to create awareness for vehicle safety, responsibility and ownership.
