|Cyber Safety & Digital Citizenship|
Technology is fast paced and constantly changing. I recently watched a video about how fast technology is moving and how that is changing the world.
Interesting facts I learned
- The top ten in-demand jobs from 2010 did not exist in 2004.
- Teachers are preparing students for jobs that do not even exist yet. These students will be using technology that has not yet been invented and this technology will help them solve problems that we do not know are problems yet.
- A week's worth of information in the New York Times newpaper contains more information than what a person from the 18th century would have encountered in their whole life.
I feel the 21st century learner needs to be well versed in technology. I also feel that students need to learn about cyber safety and digital citizenship. Below is a website I encourage families to use at home to help elementary students become familiar with cyber safety and digital citizenship. This is a website I use with my own child.
This is a web based game through PBS Kids. This game is targeted for kids between the ages of 8 to 10. It addresses web safety, information literacy and digital citizenship.
