2010 Apple Awards
The 2010 Apple Awards nomination process has begun! All nominations will be submitted online. A link is available on the District's main page. Take a moment to nominate an outstanding teacher for this prestigious award. Students, parents, teachers and anyone else may submit a nomination. The window closes on November 24th.

Library Schedule
When the library has classes scheduled during 5th period (or 4th period on Wednesdays) it will NOT be available to students during their lunches.
College Applications/Scholarships
Attention, Seniors: If you have college and scholarship applications due before January 15th, requests need to be submitted to Counseling by Friday, December 4th. See posters displayed throughout the building.
New Law Banning Teen Drivers from Cell Phone Use
December 1st a new law will come into effect that bans sending text messages while driving. Further, it bans drivers under the age of 18 from both talking and texting on cell phones.
Governor Ritter signed the bill into law on June 1, 2009, saying, "Driving requires our full attention. Drivers should not be texting while behind the wheel. And drivers younger than 18 ought to be focusing on the road, not their cell phones." The bill was introduced after the death of 9-year-old Erica Forney of Fort Collins, who was struck by a car while riding her bicycle. The driver was distracted by her cell phone.
Vista Ice Hockey
The 2010 Mountain Vista Ice Hockey Season is quickly approaching! After last year's second place finish in the state championship, this year looks to be exciting! There will be a mandatory organizational meeting for all prospective players and their parents on Wednesday, December 2nd, at 6:00 p.m. in the Commons. Come to the meeting and get all the information you need to play Mountain Vista Hockey this coming spring. The varsity and junior varsity teams will also be looking for student managers if you are interested. For more information, visit www.mvhshockey.com.
FBLA
The next FBLA meetings will be Wednesday, December 2nd, during SOAR and Thursday, December 3rd, after school. Please have your district events planned out!
Hope Reigns Baby Bottle Project
The Hope Reigns Baby Bottle Change Drive is still going on, but you are running out of time. Please make sure all baby bottles and change are returned to Mr. LaVoie or any Hope Reigns representative by Monday, November 30th. See Mr. LaVoie, Shelby Delargy or Chelsea Szydlowski for questions.
Junior/Sophomore Parent Night
Junior/Sophomore Parent Night will be Tuesday, December 1st, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. This evening is designed for parents of juniors and sophomores wanting more information about college and post-high school planning. Topics will include graduation requirements, testing, career and post-high school planning, financial aid, scholarships, NCAA and counseling resources. Students and parents are encouraged to attend this event.
Eagle Eye Online
Your Eagle Eye newspaper is now online. New articles are posted every week that are exclusive to the website. Go to my.hsj.org/co/hr/eagleeye and check it out.
Math Lab
Math Lab will be open every Tuesday after school from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in L403. We are here to help you with all of your math needs.
Yearbook
Still interested in purchasing a yearbook? Now is a great time, if you haven't already done so. If you purchase your yearbook by December 17th, you can still receive it for the low price of $60. From December 18th through January 29th, the price will be $70, and after January 30th, the price increases to $80. Yearbooks can be purchased at the Bookkeeper's office.
School Calendars
MVHS desk calendars are available in the main office at a reduced cost of $5. Let your parents know about this great deal.
Writing Center
The Writing Center is open every Wednesday from 3:00-4:00 in U308. Please attend to receive assistance with your writing assignments.
Parking Issues
Scott will be in the Commons from 11:00 to 12:30 daily to handle your parking fines and questions.
Weight Room
The weight room is open for all students to work out and make up classes. Hours are 6:00 to 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Attendance
Students and parents, please review the NEW attendance and open campus policies, which can be found on the MVHS website. Remember, a doctor's note is required when arriving late.
