Fill the Gap
is a three-part program designed to support Douglas County School District (DCSD) via a matching grant program, school supply donations and an opportunity to recognize outstanding students, staff and parents.
Matching Grants
To "fill the gap" created by the economic downturn and state and district budget cuts in the last two years, schools need additional support to creative and innovative programming.
Matching grants are now available for any of the district's 76 schools. Teachers and schools are encouraged to submit a proposal for a program that supports the DCSD's three learning goals of responsible citizenship, closing the achievement gap and liberal arts education. DCEF will match up to $1,000 that schools raise to implement a program.
Kids Helping Kids
Students and their families can make a difference in DCSD by simply donating school supplies throughout the year. Totes will be provided in all schools, and monetary donations are also accepted. Schools can submit an application to DCEF providing where there is an identified need, the DCEF will distribute supplies according to need.
DCEF MVP
Douglas County has a wealth of staff, students, volunteers and community members who make DCSD a unique and productive place to learn. The MVP program is designed to recognize people doing good deeds all over the district. Students, parents and staff can nominate individuals for MVP recognition and the DCEF will honor nominees weekly. MVPs will be highlighted on the DCEF website, and will receive an appreciation award for their continued support of education in Douglas County.
