![]() Safe2tell is modeled after the Student Crime Stoppers program. It allows students, teachers, parents, or anyone else to call 877-542-SAFE, a toll free hotline within the state of Colorado, to report information about a crime that has already happened, or one they fear may happen.
Text-a-Tip
Douglas County School District, in partnership with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), is implementing a new program called Text-A-Tip, which will offer high school students a new way to communicate safety concerns. The program utilizes the same technology as Crime Stoppers but allows high school students in the Douglas County School District to send a text message in real time. Students will be able to report criminal events in progress, such as a fight or an assault, or give information about a crime or express concern over a student who may be in trouble or suicidal. DCSO is the first law enforcement agency in the state to offer the Text-A-Tip program. The process of texting a tip is simple: each DCSD high school has been assigned an identifying keyword*. Use trhs or TRHS. The student enters the keyword at the beginning of the tip, sends the text to the special access number, and the message is received by a School District dispatcher, who can even text back in real time. The tips are monitored 24 hours a day, and if the tip involves a crime in progress, it will be sent to the appropriate police dispatch center for immediate response. |
