International Towne

The DCEF provides some support to 7th grade classes throughout the district who are interessted in the International Towne Program. This hands-on program helps young "world citizens" become better prepared for the financial realities of the global marketplace. Designed to teach an array of international economic concepts, International Towne focuses on "5 C's":

  • Currency Exchange
  • Citizenship
  • Cultural Awareness
  • Global Cooperation through Competition
  • Career Exploration

Students prepare by first participating in 29 highly interactive lessons taught in their classrooms by teachers and Resource Partners from the community. During that time, students engage in lessons and activities that not only assist them in learning basic global economics, but also reinforce cultural awareness, geography, math, science, and civics. The culminating experience of this program is a day-long trip to the International Towne facility in Denver where students-turned-citizens run a world of 16 foreign countries.
