Young AmeriTowne

The DCEF provides support to many 5th grade classes throughout the district who participate in the Young AmeriTowne program. Young AmeriTowne is a unique hands-on lesson in free enterprise that introduces young people to the basic principles of our economic system by allowing them to run their own town. It was designed to provide children with relevant life skills.

Participants go through job interviews, learn about business ethics, and discuss community responsibility. They experience banking, marketing, customer service, supply and demand, government and the legal system. They learn how an economy works, how businesses operate and how to manage personal and business finances.

Young AmeriTowne is an important program that teaches young people what it takes to be a productive, contributing member of society through a real-life, hands-on learning experience.
