Benefits of Becoming a Chapter
Tax-Exempt Status - All gifts to your chapter are tax deductible within the limits of the law.Additionally, because we are a tax-exempt foundation, some of the donations you receive may be eligible for matching grant funds from donors' employers. The DCEF maintains its tax-exempt status by filing tax returns, IRS reports, and conducting an annual audit of its books. Ease of Bookkeeping - All chapter funds are processed through the DCEF bank account, adding a layer of accountability and protection for those funds. At the end of each month, we prepare a report for each chapter showing all transactions on their account. Insurance - The DCEF maintains a liability insurance policy. Credit Cards - Chapters may use our credit card machines for their fundraising events and may accept VISA and MasterCard payments for pledges, etc. Communication - We are always available to you to answer your questions regarding your fundraising and fundgiving processes. In addition, when we become aware of fundraising opportunities which may be of interest to you, we pass that information along. We also seek to foster communication between chapters through e-mail, written communication and semi-annual chapter meetings. Money For Your School Stays At Your School - Finally, all of your money stays at your school benefiting your students. We do not charge any fees for 'membership'. Our administrative costs are covered by the interest we earn on the monies held in our bank accounts and our salaries are paid by the school district. Thus, our expenses are covered and 100% of the funds we raise go to educational programs. |
