Douglas County School students are required to have some type of health insurance to participate in outdoor education programs (i.e., field trips).  While most of the students have health insurance, there may be extenuating circumstances where students may not have the coverage they need.  This is where the student accident insurance option presented here may be helpful.

For the 2008 - 2009 school year, Douglas County Risk Management has again joined forces with UnitedHealthcare Student Resources to offer student accident insurance for a small fee.  There are several different insurance programs available for families depending on each family's needs.  There is also a category of student insurance specific for High School Football.

For years, the student accident insurance program has been made available to you through Risk Management.  They are in no way affiliated with the Douglas County School District.  Annually, Risk Management evaluates "student accident insurance" vendors and selects one parents can purchase student accident insurance through.  United Healthcare has been selected as a reputable company through which student accident insurance can be purchased.
