Answers
1)  Q Is my child old enough to be in Kindergarten?
A
Incoming Kindegarten students must be age 5 on or before October 1st of the school year which they are enrolling.
2)  Q How do I enroll my child in Kindergarten?
A
Our district holds Kindergarten enrollment in late January for the upcoming school year. Roxborough Elementary will announce Kindie enrollment dates via our school marquee, our school newsletter and school website. Forms that parents should bring are: copies of the birth certificate, immunization record and proof of residence. The proof of residence must be a lease agreement or warranty deed. 4)  Q What do I do if my child is absent or late to school?
A
If your child will be absent or late to school please call the attendance line: 303-387-6000. Please leave your child name, the child's teacher, reason for absence and date.
5)  Q What are the office hours?
A
School Office Hours Monday: 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday: 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday: 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday: 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday: 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
6)  Q My child is not feeling well. Should he/she go to school?
A
  • Students must be fever free for 12 hours before coming to school
  • Students must be vomiting free for 24 hours before coming to school.
  • If your child needs tylenol prior to coming to school for fever or pain, he/she should stay home.
  • Please keep us up to date will all contact and emergency numbers.
  • If you child has a fever of 100 degrees or vomits at school they must be taken home.
7)  Q Can my student carry medicine with them at school?
A
Children may not carry ANY medication on them, i.e. cough drops, cough syrup, vitamins, etc. State law requires a doctor's order for the administration of any medication at school and that medication must be housed and administered in the school office. The only exception is cough drops that may be kept in the teacher's desk in a labeled bag (individual student) to be administered by the teacher.
8)  Q What is the school dress code?
A
All students who attend Roxborough Elementary are encouraged to dress appropriately for the education setting. It is essential that students dress according to the weather, as they will be expected to participate in outside activities throughout the year. Students who present a safety hazard or disrupt the educational process because of their dress will call home and request that parents bring a change of clothing.

The following items will not be allowed:
  • Cropped tops (shirt or blouse must be long enough to be tucked in at the waist)
  • Tank tops, halters or strapless tops
  • Clothing, jewelry, buttons or other items with inappropriate words, logos, or pictures - this includes cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol
  • Clothing that reveals a student's undergarment
  • "Short shorts/skirts"
  • "Sagging" pants (the wearing of pants below the waist line)
  • Cutoffs or gym shorts Hats, caps, hoods or sunglasses (with the exception of designated activity days)
  • High platform shoes (heels should be no higher than one inch)
  • Students may not come to school with colored hair (must be natural color), except on designated school spirit days (crazy hair day)
9)  Q How do I get a message to my student?
A
Student messages are delivered by the front office at 3:45 p.m. each day. Please call 303-387-6000 to leave a message for your student.
10)  Q Can my student have a cell phone?
A
Students will not be allowed to have cell phones on during the school day. Student cell phones must be stored in their backpacks throughout the school day.
11)  Q What does late start mean?
A
During times of severe weather a late start may be called by the district. School start will be delayed on hour. School will begin at 10:10 a.m. on delayed start days.
12)  Q When can my off track student take an AR quiz?
A
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
Wednesday
4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
