Yoga Fitness Club

Yoga Fitness Club was founded during the 2007-2008 school year by Geri Durbin (retired) and Lisa Pulk.  The purpose of Yoga Fitness Club is to instruct club members in the proper execution and benefits of various yoga poses, and the use of the breath to deepen the stretch in the pose and aid in relaxation. Club members will explore their limits physically and mentally, learning how to stay relaxed in demanding physical situations. Club members will strive to acquire the ability to transfer this skill to the other aspects of their lives.

Yoga Fitness Club is suitable for any PHS student. Each club member will work to the best of their ability, learning to respect their body and where it is on any given day, not comparing themselves to, competing against or judging anyone else in the room. Each member is expected to stay the entire time so as to not disturb others during the workout portion of the meeting.

Yoga Fitness Club will meet once a month during Advisement. At each meeting 4 poses will be introduced including explanation of proper execution and benefits (what muscles are worked and any additional benefits of the pose). Following the instruction club members will experience a 45-60 minute Yoga Fitness lesson. Physical education students may use the time as make up for missed P.E. classes.
