Every school in Colorado is required by law to establish an accountability committee to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to have input into the planning and evaluation of the school's instructional and quality improvement process. In the Douglas County School District-and at Roxborough Elementary-parents, staff, and the community have input into the accountability proce! ss thro ugh School Advisory Councils, or SAC.
The Roxborough SAC is comprised of several parents and staff members, a PTIC representative, a non-parent community representative, and principal Karen Brofft. As an advisory committee, we discuss a variety of issues including the school improvement process, safety issues, prioritization of school expenditures, and the annual school accountability report.
The Douglas County School District Board of Education is strongly committed to the accountability process, so much so that they included a provision in the 2006 Budget election designating a $60 per student allotment to be used at the school's discretion providing they meet the requirements of the district SAC By-laws (currently under revision). Our committee will have input into the use of these funds for the 2008-2009 school year.
Roxborough SAC meetings are open to the public and are generally held on the fourth Monday of each month at 4:15pm at the Roxborough Intermediate building in the Roxborough Ridge Conference Room. Please see the schedule below for the exact dates. We are always seeking new members; all adults are welcome to attend any or all of our meetings.
