Dear Parents,
To help alleviate the congestion during drop off and pick up times in the Meadow View parking lot and on Butterfield Crossing; we have the KISS AND GO procedure in place. Four years ago, a group of volunteer parents in cooperation with the administration developed this procedure.  Though patience, understanding, and a commitment by all families, we will be able to continue a process that is safe for our students and community.

School Signs

• The North side of Butterfield Crossing (across the street from the school) is a NO PARKING, NO STOPPING, NO CARS zone.
• The South side of Butterfield Crossing (school side of the street) is a DROP OFF zone to LOAD and UNLOAD STUDENTS ONLY for people coming from the west. Parents/Guardians may not park and leave their vehicle. Students are to exit only from the passenger side of the car.
• There is NO LEFT HAND TURN out of the school parking lot from 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM and 2:45 PM - 3:30 PM

The System (Refer to the map)

• People driving from the WEST will drop off/pick up students on the south side of Butterfield.
• People driving from the EAST will pull into the school parking lot and drop off/pick up students along the sidewalk in front of the mobiles.
• At the entrance of the school, use a rotating system to allow traffic to flow continuously (one car allowed in the school parking lot, the one car moves down to drop off/pick up)
• When entering a DROP OFF zone, cars should be prepared to drop off/pick up as quickly as possible and re-enter traffic. When preparing to re-enter traffic the flow of traffic on Butterfield Crossing, use your left turn signal to return cautiously and promptly into traffic.
• Children will be permitted to load/unload ONLY on the sidewalks just below the school. Children may not go to the sidewalk above or across the street from the school to be dropped off/picked up. This will also prevents any child from walking across traffic in the parking lot or on the street.

Alternatives for Parking (party days, student presentations, etc)

Rosecrown and Buttercup streets and Butterfield Park are available for parking.  Students could walk to the crosswalk in front of the school to cross safely with the crossing guard. It is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS for students to cross outside the adult supervised crosswalk. Please remind your students to cross ONLY at the supervised crosswalk.

Reminders

This process is based upon students being ready to exit cars upon arrival.  Please have students prepared to exit the car from the passenger side ONLY.

We will continue to monitor the traffic before and after school as new families become familiar with our program. However, we are confident that KISS AND GO is beneficial to our students and their safety... which our primary concern is!
